Vehicles that Provide a Much Needed Service
Facilities Manager Bob Smith oversees the maintenance of Enable’s fleet of 29 vehicles that serve 15 group homes and two day programs by employing Fleetio software. Bob inputs all vehicle information into the database, tracks fuel costs and receives maintenance reminders. Enable’s vans are handicap accessible and need to be monitored closely to keep the lifts running smoothly for consumers who use wheelchairs. This also includes keeping track of fire extinguishers, first aid kits and roadside warning triangles which are all required in handicap accessible vehicles.
Finding a Better Way
Bob discovered Fleetio during an Internet search on Google looking to find a better way to track the fleet. Previously, the records were written in a binder and logged by hand.
“We needed a better management system to oversee vehicle maintenance. Now, with Fleetio, we save about 40 percent on our vehicle service costs.” — Bob Smith, Facilities Manager
Saving Time and Money
Fleetio allowed Bob to set reminders for each vehicle and only send them in for service when needed. Maintenance costs dropped dramatically and expensive repairs are rare because the fleet is well monitored. Keeping track of warranties by scanning in receipts has also helped keep costs down. After one year of Fleetio monitoring the vehicles, Enable has saved time, money and made fleet oversight economical.
