New York-based transportation company Leros is, at its core, a family business, and one that prides itself on dedicated service and a healthy culture. The company has grown since its founding in 1983 to provide ground transportation and chauffeuring services to private and corporate customers in an expansive network of over 700 cities across four continents. Leros needed a fleet management solution like Fleetio to better keep track of its diversified business and make better operational decisions.
Know the vehicles inside and out
“In our business, there are two things that are most important: reliability and safety,” said Jeff Nyikos, president and CEO of Leros. “When using Fleetio, the most important thing is knowing exactly what’s going on with each one of our vehicles.”
Leros caters to companies and individuals who require chauffeur and ground transportation services while traveling in New York, and they work hard to maintain ongoing relationships with their client base by providing superior vehicles that have been well-maintained. Nyikos said that logging maintenance data like service and mileage in Fleetio has been a key selling point for their clients.
“When you walk into a presentation, and you have a software you can click through and say, ‘Okay, this is X-Y-Z vehicle, we spent this much on maintenance, it has this many miles, it’s gonna have an oil change next week,’ and you can go through and detail all of that with one click of a mouse? Really, it blows the client away,” Nyikos said.
Looking beyond maintenance, Fleetio enables Leros to effectively gauge how their assets are performing within their fleet, and whether or not they’re serving a direct benefit to the company’s bottom line.
“We’re able to analyze, we’re able to look at the downtime of vehicles, and we’re able to realize savings, because we’re on top of this,” said Jeffrey Cartagena, executive VP of Leros.
Proactively analyzing each asset with Fleetio’s dashboard also allows the company to know when a vehicle has outlived its profitability, and lets leadership proceed confidently with both maintenance and disposal and replacement of their assets without having to question whether or not it will be worth their while financially.
“So Fleetio, with a couple of clicks, allows us to basically see, ‘Okay, so this car’s had X amount of maintenance, in this period of time, it’s time for us to either retire this vehicle, [or] to invest in this vehicle,’” Nyikos said.
Unify data in a single dashboard
As a complex global operation, Leros has to utilize a few different services to stay on top of their operations. One of the biggest benefits they found in Fleetio was its ability to integrate seamlessly with fuel card partner Coast.
“The utilization of Fleetio and Coast has really given us visibility into our fleet like we’ve never had before, because it now allows us to take all of our information and look at it in one system with Fleetio,” Cartagena said.
Coast gives fleets of all sizes more control over their fuel expenses and optimizes fuel spend with customizable controls and insights. Linking their fuel data in Coast with their maintenance data in Fleetio empowered Leros to make even more informed decisions around maintenance and fuel budgeting, meaning more savings and an easier reporting and analysis process.
Use data to make better decisions for the fleet
Fleet metrics really matter to Leros, so having a reliable source of truth for all things fleet was a vital measure of success for the company.
“Our whole business is run on data analytics,” Nyikos said. “Whether it’s regarding fleet, it’s regarding fuel, service, on-time performance – everything is based on metrics. And then we take that information and we make ourselves better.”
With Fleetio powering their data, Leros is able to quickly identify trends in their fleet in real time and apply those learnings to their operation.
